Just for giggles, I had another system here that I brought online with a fresh Windows 10 install.

I'm still not done with the download but at least it is still moving, so I thought you all might want to try this step. It cruised right past the 450-480MB mark where it had been returning download errors. I reopened the launcher and started up the download again.

At the next pop-up box, check the Full control box under the Allow header in the Permissions for Authenticated Users section (mine was unchecked), then click Apply. Nothing worked until I went to the main directory where the files are being installed to (in my case, 'D:/Games/SquareEnix/FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn', went to Properties, then Security, then the Edit button for changing permissions.
